Jeffrey Trott Obituary (1964 – 2022) – Highlands Ranch, CO

Jeffrey B. Trott
Born: April 14, 1964
Died: August 26, 2022
Born in Columbus, OH, Jeff with his family moved to Bay Village, OH, in 1967; to Vienna, VA, in 1969 and to Centreville, VA, in 1970. In 1972 his family moved to Sycamore, IL, where he attended school and graduated from Sycamore High School in 1982. He attended lowa State University to study architecture. At ISU he met Donna Michelle Pitz (Ankeny, IA). They married on August 23, 1985, and started their first home in Mesa, AZ.
While in the Phoenix area Jeff learned how to build laptop computers and learned operational software. When their first child was born (Emily) they vowed to return to the Midwest. They settled into the Des Moines, IA, area where he became proficient at computer repair and diagnosing software problems and their corrections. He continued learning about software architecture and systems designs, all of which led him to a job in IT with the Meredith Corporation. His successes in working with Meredith’s multiple broadcasting software approaches enabled him to standardize software and systems company-wide so that multiple locations in the U.S. could communicate and even synchronize with each other. This led him to a position with Wide Orbit, Inc.
In 2015 Jeff and Donna with their girls moved to Highlands Ranch, CO, fulfilling a dream they shared to live close to the Rocky Mountains. His passion for architecture writ large found new outlets. He continued his work with computing as a software development team leader with 1st Bank of Colorado. He cultivated his skills at updating and redesigning areas within their home, helped build sets for programs at their church, and was creative in his landscape design and implementation as well. He always had a project to visualize and fulfill.
Jeff was a family man, always ready to help his daughters or wife whenever and however he was needed. Jeff and Donna loved to walk and hike in state and National parks; this was nearly an every day as well as weekend activity. A new activity was helping care for grandchildren. All of this came to an abrupt end after a courageous fight with metastatic Melanoma.
Jeff is survived by his beloved wife Donna (Pitz), daughters Emily Tsoi (Andrew), Hannah Costello (Juan Pablo), and Madeline Dimmel (Sidney); also his parents Charles “Pete” and Marilyn (McQuiniff), brothers Rob, David (Myriam), and Andy (Nancy), and sister Kristen (Brad) Burns. He also leaves behind three young grandchildren: Joy Costello, Maddox Tsoi, and Judah Dimmel; in-law parents Jane and Bob Hedden, sisters-in-law Deanne Bazis, Debbie (Todd) Michel and brother-in-law Dan (Jessica). And many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Tim Bazis and former father-in-law Dave Pitz.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 18, 2022, at Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch, CO, at 3:00 pm. Please come in casual dress and share your memories and thoughts. A memorial fund has been set at go fund.me/60b7997b.
